Downtown

As Petula Clark sang, ‘there’s no finer place than Downtown’. And she was right! We jumped at the chance to support one of the UK’s most established retailers with their brand communications. Not only because it’s a fascinating family-owned business with big ambitions, but also because it allowed us to work with them in a slightly different way to some of our other clients. Downtown have been running their department store business for over 200 years now, selling everything from garden furniture and homewares, to make-up and the latest fashions, but as the retail landscape has evolved they knew they needed a fresh look at their brand.

Having already embarked on a rebrand of their business and new positioning, what they needed from us was a way to bring all of that hard work to life. In collaboration with the Downtown design team, we created the ‘Discover it, Downtown’ creative platform as a vehicle to create campaigns across Sale, Spring, Black Friday and Christmas as well as day-to-day brand comms, celebrating the benefits of the range and diverse product offering available in-store and online.

From POS and digital display, to above-the-line advertising including radio and TV, ‘Discover it, Downtown’ has become the perfect expression for the brand that can run and run, putting Downtown on the up and up.
